General Remarks
Everyone might have a different reason for visiting us, i.e., the institute, my group, or just an individual person. Everyone is more than welcome; just get in touch with us by sending an email to ralf.salomon@uni-rostock.de. As a preparation, the following sections provide further information for Student Thesis, International Students, PhD Applicants, and Senior Visitors and Post-Docs. For job offers and internships, please refer to the Job-Offers Page.
Student Thesis
Every student from outside of our faculty or even from outside of our university is more than welcome to visit us and/or to do a thesis project. But first of all, you should get in touch with your dean of studies in order to make sure that your work will be accepted by your home institution. For a first overview of open topics, please browse the various resources, such as the Topics Page and the Institute’s Open-Topics Page, or send an email to ralf.salomon@uni-rostock.de.
Volunteers with General Interests
Some students have some general interests in our research activities and our Model Railroad Project. Participation can be done in terms of a thesis work or just voluntary work that simply helps understand all the various class topics. Sometimes, we also offer payed student jobs.
International Students
We sometimes receive enquiries from international students. Due to the Bologna process and the subsequent instantiation of all the bachelor and master studies, students can easily study abroad. In such a case, the Student Office Computational Engineering (Tina Zorn) might be a good point of first contact.
Students can also work on some thesis projects without doing their studies at University of Rostock. These students also get full support in terms of (scientific) supervision. Interested students should get in touch with me via email ralf.salomon@uni-rostock.de, and should find another supervisor at his/her home institution.
Internships
Students looking for an internship might directly go to the Internships Page.
PhD Applicants
You do want to do you PhD in our group, and you bring your own funding? Great. Go ahead and contact me via email ralf.salomon@uni-rostock.de.
You unfortunately do not have your own funding? Well, then please check the PhD-Jobs Page. Please keep in mind that due to the nature of external funding, most of our PhD jobs are posted on a rather short notice. Sorry, but we can’t help it. So, check that web page regularly.
You do not have your own funding and you cannot find any open position, but you are nevertheless very certain that your profile and interests fit into our activities very well? Then, go ahead and email me your application and CV to ralf.salomon@uni-rostock.de. I will put it on file, and will get back to you as soon as some open position appears.
Senior Visitors and Post-Docs
If you are a senior researcher who is hanging around and/or is planning on a trip to Rostock, you are more than welcome to visit us. Just send an email to ralf.salomon@uni-rostock.de and we set up an appointment.
